We are pleased to present you the PORTAL of the online magazine of our school

“LICEO SCIENTIFICO STATALE ‘G. Galilei’, located in via Balilla, n. 34, in Pescara.

Dear Readers,

Greetings to you all!

As English Teachers we believe that the effort of every educator should be addressed to unlock the treasure that each student has in himself/herself. We are totally convinced that “the heart of education is the education of the heart first, besides being that of the mind”. We strongly believe in the “daring venture” of the “GALI-NEWS” project, the first English online school magazine, which we are proud to work on with a well-fed group of students. Only by joining our forces and efforts we can succeed in our goal. The best victory is in sharing personal unique resources to grow together culturally, intellectually, humanely and technologically. A reason that many students enjoy working on the school magazine is that they have a lot of freedom on what topics they would like to cover. For example, if students enjoy science, they will be expert illustrators of their lab experiments and projects, or if they enjoy sport, they will be skillful writers of the school best sports teams and different sports events to cover them and so on.

We will have for you a wide range of informative and inspirational articles.

Enjoy reading!

INTRODUCTION: “REAL LIFE JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE”

We are very proud as the “G. Galilei” high school editorial staff in Pescara to illustrate the main purposes of the “GALI-NEWS”, the first online magazine of our city schools, entirely written in English. We wish it could add value to both the school and the city community, by keeping them informed of the main projects, cultural and scientific issues and events of our school. A school magazine is a great way for us students to get some real life journalism experience. Having an online magazine brings a series of benefits: firstly, it helps us empower the four language and digital skills; secondly, it teaches more about journalism and prepares us students for a variety of careers, as it increases our sense of responsibility; thirdly, it promotes team-building, learning by doing and cooperative learning by means of group-work stimulating activities, which facilitate exchange of opinions through mutual interaction.
